MAD × Roughchild Collaboration
This exhaust system was developed in close collaboration between MAD Exhausts and Roughchild Moto.
Roughchild’s many years of experience restoring and optimizing classic BMW Airheads form the foundation of this system. Their deep understanding of geometry, engine behavior and real-world rideability is combined with MAD’s expertise in stainless steel exhaust engineering, sound tuning and precision manufacturing.
The result is a classic luxury exhaust that respects the original BMW design language, while subtly improving sound, flow and overall balance.
Designed around the Airhead
The BMW R-series boxer is the perfect platform for a full stainless steel exhaust upgrade. This system follows the original lines closely and integrates naturally with both restored and custom-built motorcycles — from stock restorations to café racers, scramblers and trackers.
Every decision in this system is functional: no unnecessary components, no visual clutter, and no compromises in fitment.
Muffler design & sound character
Compared to other MAD systems, this collaboration features a newly developed muffler with increased internal volume. This creates a deeper, more refined exhaust note while remaining more neighbor-friendly.
The added length of the system allows the use of a clean, uninterrupted layout without a balance pipe, improving aesthetics and potentially offering a small performance gain depending on engine condition and setup.

Road use notice
This exhaust system is supplied as race use only.No EC, ABE or TÜV approval. Db-killers are not included. In many cases, the system can be used on public roads when fitted with db-killers and combined with an original airbox, provided local noise regulations are met. Always verify local legislation.
